As I was writing last week’s post on seeking the light at the end of the tunnel, I kept thinking about another coveted cookie fortune that was recently shared with me and how it relates.
The owner of today’s featured fortune pocketed this message years ago and continues to use it as motivation on days when its the hardest to get out of bed. Squinting at this positive prophecy through blurred and tired eyes, it acts as a beacon, beckoning his willpower to reawaken and energize him to get up and get working. This short fortune, just six words long, serves as a physical representation of his inner cheerleader. His hard work has paid off, and will continue to do so. Especially with this reminder at his side(table) 😉
Through sharing these stories of pocketed cookie fortunes, one similarity I’ve noticed is their common use as motivation. Support and recognition from others can be quite the motivational boost. And I think these fortune cookie messages provide us that same feeling of outward acknowledgement, while spurring the boost of confidence from within.
In a sense, these fortunes subconsciously drive us to be our own cheerleaders. Which is great because a lot of the time we tend to be our biggest critics. I was inspired by a recent conversation in which a simple yet profound concept was shared, that we should think of ourselves as our own best friend. Because chances are high we would never speak to our best friend the way we speak to ourselves. So why is this negative speak OK for our inner dialog? Being our own biggest fan is so important. So let’s reflect on how we would lift our friends up or encourage their dreams, and practice using that language on ourselves. Who knows, it might just ‘beckon’ us to great discovery and ‘guide’ us to great achievement!
Thank you for sharing your motivation and inspiring us all. And thank you to everyone reading along. Until next time, be well.
